Although missing and still missing for more than 4 years, Ervis Martinaj, the former gambling boss, is still in the news. In a decision of the advisory chamber of the High Court in March of this year, information is provided on how Ervis Martinaj was also charged with possession of ammunition and unlawful possession of a police uniform.

The police were unable to catch Ervis Martinaj at the time of the indictment, but the strong evidence they have is precisely the use of the toothbrush at the hotel where he was staying. This is the Zeus Garden Hotel, near Rinas, owned by Armand Mërlikaj and Ergys Mërlikaj, where the police conducted a quick check on May 19, 2022 after receiving information that Martinaj was staying at this hotel.

When the police went, according to the description of the event in the Supreme Court file, they did not find Martinaj, but in room 406 where he was staying, they found a pistol with the inscription SIG, a magazine with 7 9mm luger cartridges, a bag with the inscription Audi Sport, inside which was found a model 56 caliber 7.62 mm cartridge, a vest with the inscription "police", wallets and police badges, a black mask with three holes, bulletproof gloves and two handcuffs.

After raiding the room, the police immediately arrested the two owners, the Merlikajs, while the hotel manager, Dea Pistolja, also suffered for this fact and the failure to report the crime.

" As part of the investigative actions, the examination of the biological evaluation of the seized material evidence, the comparative dactyloscopic examination, the technical ballistic examination of the seized weapon and 8 cartridges, the chemical examination of the seized clothes to see if any residues of additional factors of firing with a firearm will be found on these clothes."

The prosecuting body continued to question, in the capacity of persons against whom investigations are being conducted, citizen Dea Pistolja, manager at the Zeus Garden hotel, and Armand Merlika and Ergys Merlika, partners at the Zeus Garden hotel.

"Furthermore, the act of biological expertise DNA no. 11006 was administered on 23.11.2025, as a result of which it was determined that the complete human genetic profile of the male sex obtained from the remains on the toothbrush in the dental kit and the clothing found matches and is identical to the genetic profile named Ervis Martinaj, in the Codis system," the  Supreme Court document states./ newsbomb.al
