The US ambassador in Tirana, Yuri Kim, has revealed what was discussed in the meeting with the head of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta.
"We talked, I think, for over two hours. It was a very good discussion and some of the things, former President Meta mentioned some of the things, and I think it was a good exchange of views...", said the American ambassador in "Opinion".
"So, for us, it is normal, it is important to have contact with all the political actors who are in Albania. Because we, first, want to make sure we understand each other. Second, we want to encourage each other. I think we should help each other when there is a need or when it is appropriate, so that we can continue to keep Albania on the right path.
So I will continue to meet with a wide range of political leaders from all parties. You know, I only have one limitation, and it's not a limitation I put on myself. But it is a restriction from Washington, and this restriction is that I will not meet with someone who has been declared by the Secretary of State for major corruption or undermining democracy," said Kim.
She was also asked by Blendi Fevziu about the investigation against Meta on lobbying in the USA and whether the embassy had given help for this.
"Yes. As a broad, general principle. When we receive a request for information from law enforcement partners anywhere in the world and where we have what is known as a mutual legal assistance treaty, we try to help each other by providing information," Kim said.
