The Tirana Prosecution Office is seeking life imprisonment for Bledar Jambelli and Kristaq Leci, accused of the murder of the former Vlora police director, Artan Cuku.

The latter was executed on April 7, 2017, allegedly in the line of duty.

Bledar Jambelli, with the mediation of Kristaq Leci and Mikel Shallari, who also became a collaborator of justice, were the authors of his execution.

"The Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction of Tirana, requests life imprisonment for citizens BJ alias BM and KL alias GK for the criminal offenses 'Murder of state police officers' and 'Illegal possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition' provided for by articles 79/b and 25 and 278/1 of the Criminal Code. From the investigations of criminal proceedings no. 139/2017, it resulted that the defendant BJ, a person of great social danger and pursued by investigative and police bodies since the 2000s, in 2012 was investigated by the Police Services at the Vlora Local Police Directorate for serious criminal events, specifically the murder of citizens Sh.M. and E. Sh. and thanks to the investigative work at the time when this Directorate was headed by the late AC, was arrested and investigated for these serious criminal facts cited above, but then During the trial he was found not guilty and was released.

Precisely for this reason, in 2017, citizen BJ, in revenge, prepared the murder of the former Vlora Police Director. To achieve this goal, he entered into an agreement with citizen KL and to carry out the murder, he also met citizen M. Sh., who was promised a payment of around 20,000 euros and that he would receive it in Germany after committing the murder, convincing him to commit the crime. Citizen KL equipped citizen M. Sh. with 2 pistol-type weapons, one Zastava type and the other Clock with a silencer, while he himself followed the victim from a distance, taking surveillance.

Citizen M.Sh shot the victim at least 8 times, leaving him lifeless at the scene. This citizen was immediately detained and after his arrest signed a cooperation agreement with the justice system. The defendant M.Sh. was sentenced to ten years in prison after accepting the charge and the criminal fact, cooperating with the justice system and repenting for the crime committed by apologizing to the victim's family. The investigation proved beyond reasonable doubt that the murder was committed intentionally in the form of premeditation, driven by revenge motives and for the benefit of two other accomplices. These three people collaborated under the direction of BJ to kill AC as a final goal, driven by different motives. The organizer of this collaboration had the goal of revenge, while the assistant had the goal of helping his friend and at the same time the son of M. Sh.'s aunt to gain money and helped him in committing the criminal offense, while M. Sh. had a material interest in this collaboration and as a result, the three committed the murder of the former director of the Vlora Police. For this reason, the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction requested: The guilty declaration of the defendant BJ for the criminal offense "Murder of state police officers" provided for by articles 79/b and 25 of the Criminal Code and his sentence of life imprisonment; and The guilty declaration of the defendant KL for the criminal offense "Murder of state police officers" provided for by articles 79/b and 25 of the Criminal Code and his sentence of life imprisonment," the Prosecutor's Office announced.
