Death of German tourist in Himara, Berisha publishes denunciation: The

A 33-year-old German tourist lost her life on July 30 in Himara, while the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has publicly denounced the way the case was handled.

Through a Facebook post, Berisha has published a complaint from a citizen, who raises questions about the delays in transporting the patient to Tirana, the lack of a runway for emergency helicopters to land, and the state of health services in Himara.

He also accuses the Police of giving a false version of the incident.

Below is Sali Berisha's full post:

A 33-year-old tourist dies in Himara.

Help was delayed for hours!

The fiancé says she was in perfect health. The police are lying, saying she was given timely assistance and died of natural causes?!?

I strongly condemn the disastrous state of emergency in Albania!

Hello Dr. A tragic event raises serious questions about the health and emergency infrastructure in Himara.

On July 30, a 33-year-old German citizen, who was on vacation in Himara with her fiancé, felt unwell at the hotel where she was staying and sought medical help.

The Himara ambulance responded immediately, but her condition required urgent specialized intervention. Due to the lack of a proper hospital in Himara, a helicopter transport to Tirana was decided.

The helicopter arrived in Himara, but encountered difficulties landing. The city currently does not have a dedicated runway for helicopter landings, and the stadium, which has previously been used for such occasions, is under reconstruction.

According to reports, attempts were made for more than an hour to find a suitable landing spot, but without success. (The young woman was waiting, in serious condition).

It was then decided that the helicopter would land in Palasa, while the 33-year-old woman would be transported there by ambulance.

Unfortunately, the young woman died during transport. Her body was sent to Tirana, where forensic examinations are expected to be carried out to determine the cause of death. According to her fiancé's preliminary statements, she did not suffer from any known heart problems.

Whether or not delays in transportation contributed to this tragic end is a matter that can only be determined by investigations and medical expertise. However, the incident raises several important questions:

How is it possible that Himara, one of the most frequented tourist destinations in Albania, does not have a hospital equipped to handle serious emergencies?

Why is there no dedicated runway for landing emergency helicopters, when it is known that during the summer season the number of tourists multiplies?

At the moment the stadium turned into a construction site, was an alternative solution for landing helicopters in emergencies foreseen?

Have risk analyses been conducted for the tourist season and is there a functional plan for air evacuation of patients?

Do citizens and tourists have the same access to emergency medical care, or does the lack of infrastructure put them at risk?

Will this tragedy serve as a wake-up call to invest in healthcare and emergency infrastructure in Himara, or will everything be forgotten in a few days?

Ps: The police just reacted, and they are blatantly lying! They say that help was provided and she died of natural causes...You are pathetic!
