The new order: If you are over 30 years old, you cannot become a policeman

If you are over 30, forget about the dream that you can become a police officer.

This is the order of the Minister of the Interior, Ervin Hoxha, who, in fulfillment of the Law of the State Police, which came into force in July 2024, has set the age within which you can compete to enter the police. The age to be admitted to the police, the Minister of the Interior orders, is up to 30 years old.

This order was published in the official gazette on August 1, 2025.

Which means this is the last year where the age criterion has not been taken into account in the competition that is being held at the Security Academy for the following academic year.

With the addition of structures at Vlora Airport and Gjadra, the number of officers is 12 thousand 300, however, there are still vacancies.

For the basic level, it is estimated that almost 600 employees are missing, while another 200 who are missing are deputy commissioners. These vacancies have been created by retirement, dismissals after arrests and investigations and resignations.
