Artan Lame and Artur Zheji

Artur Zheji, the renowned journalist and analyst, passed away on August 23, 2025, at the age of 64, after a cardiac arrest while in Saranda with his family. The incident occurred in a restaurant on “Butrinti” Street, where Zheji was celebrating his son’s birthday. Despite emergency medical care, he did not survive.

Some time ago, Zheji carried out an intervention in Germany.

"The truth is that, in the last two or three months, I took care of my health more carefully than before, after I had an easy and quick surgical intervention in God-blessed Germany," he said after the intervention, in a media interview.

Just a few months ago, on May 22, 2025, Artan Lame, former director of the Cadastre Agency and a well-known figure in the field of Albanian cultural heritage, passed away at the age of 58.

Lame also underwent heart surgery in Munich, Germany. He died there after the procedure. Lame had suffered from heart problems for years and died after coming out of a coma.

The German healthcare system is among the most advanced in the world and has very strict professional and ethical standards. As these cases show, complications after surgical interventions occur, even when treatment is of a high standard.

The heart is a delicate organ, and after surgery – especially in middle age or advanced age – every body reacts differently.

These two consecutive losses are a reminder of the importance of healthcare, especially for people with a history of cardiac problems. Therefore, surgical interventions, even when performed in advanced medical centers like Germany, carry risks, especially for patients with chronic diseases./ Dita
