The story of an Italian's love for an Albanian citizen, which has a tragic and mysterious ending, has returned to the media .

9 years ago, in June 2013, Ivan Angleo would be reported missing in Albania, after he had come to our country to meet his Albanian girlfriend named Alba, but who also turns out to have identities. others.

How did Ivan meet Alba?

It was a communication through social networks to start the conversation between Ivan and Alba, which would later bring "love" between the couple.

Initially everything went well between them, until a moment when Ivan reads something on Alba's computer, which later led to their cooling, but also Ivan's disappearance.

Ivan's sister, Barbara, was the only one who started the investigation for the mysterious disappearance of her brother, but also the only one who constantly communicated with Alba.

In an interview given to "Tgcom24" in 2015 she tells what happened.

Let's go back to that April of 2013 ...

My brother Ivan Angelo met online in chat an Albanian woman named Alba. They talked often on Skype and agreed to meet in Tirana in April just two years ago. After that, Ivan was introduced to Alba's family. The two loved each other and decided to get married. Ivan decided to return to Albania in June and stay there for a month on vacation.

Everything seems to be going well, but…

There was no problem until a few days before departure, when Ivan noticed something. In an email sent to this woman, he says he discovered her network, and that he understood why she had asked for a copy of her passport. He defines it as a cyber crime.

What happened?

I think Ivan had discovered something unexpected about Alba on the net. I do not know what it is about, we have even hypothesized about a network of document forgery. We know that in Albania in that period there were similar cases.

But Ivan left anyway. How was this second trip to Albania organized?

He left Ancona by ferry on June 14, 2013 to clarify the situation, with a return ticket in his pocket for June 23. He told us he would be back soon after he had left the food in the fridge but also his dog.

But Ivan did not return ...

Not really. His car was found in a paid parking lot in front of the port of Ancona. The last trace from him is a small withdrawal at the bank made in Tirana on June 22 of that year at an international ATM. From that day on, he did not respond to his cell phone or email address.

And Alba?

During those days she repeatedly called mutual friends in Italy overnight, saying she was not in contact with Ivan, and that something serious had happened. When we spoke on the phone, he said that they had met and quarreled in a bar in Tirana, although he said that he could not say either the name of the place where they had quarreled, or where my brother had found that night.

Were there any personal belongings of Ivan?

At our request, he gave us one of my brother's travel bags, where his laptop was. But surprisingly, the new hard drive had disappeared from it. The woman gave us two conflicting versions of how she managed to find the laptop and how it was no longer the hard drive.

Then?

In the phone conversation, in a first version, she stated that Ivan was angry with her and had broken her cell phone, which turned out to be unusable. But in a second phone call she said Ivan had removed the hard drive from the laptop in the locks, (which takes a few minutes to realize and a screwdriver). And according to her, the waiter had then given her the laptop after knowing her. She also said that my brother had left the hotel where he was staying at midnight to go to a friend in the hospital. Alba said Ivan was in the company of another Italian, and told me he had some sms on the wire. I asked him to send me and me, but they never came.

Do you trust Alba?

I do not know. We later found out that she managed many Facebook profiles and used different nicknames. But this certainly does not constitute a crime. We have never said that Ivan has disappeared because of her, but she is certainly aware of any element that might help the investigation, but has shown very little cooperation. If he loves her as he expressed himself, then he should help. He has repeatedly stated that for him the value of the family is fundamental… but perhaps he does not understand the torturous pain for a sister. I exclude the case when he is afraid to speak.

Who did you turn to for the investigation?

We have reported the missing person reporting to the Fano police station. But investigations into Italian territory yielded no success.

What about the Albanian police?

From them, through the Italian Embassy in Tirana, almost a year after the disappearance, we were informed that Ivan had left Albania from Durrës in the direction of Bar. But the details of his document, however, were incomplete and contradicted the practice of launching ferries to Italy.

Have you traveled to Albania to clarify the situation?

Of course yes. In October last year, I went to Tirana to talk to the Albanian Minister of Interior, Saimir Tahiri, who accompanied me to the General Directorate of Police and then to the Crime Department in Tirana to file a complaint. There, they told me they were unaware of the case, but assured me that investigations would begin.

What did they tell you about the famous ferry to Bari?

They showed me a list of travelers traveling from Durrës to Puglia, where it was actually my brother's name. But for the names of this list we have not had confirmation in Italy. Our border police have made further checks on passenger lists for ferries to Bari and Ancona, and my brother's name was not there. But there was something really disturbing…

That was?

The passenger list for Ancona was not written in the list received in real time of arrival of the ferry, but appeared placed at the bottom of the same list at the time the lists were requested by the Italian border police. This happened a year later when the case was being investigated.

Meanwhile, time passes…

Yes, the battle for the truth has been long and hard, and I must thank the Penelope Marche Association for always being close to our family. In the autumn of 2014, an interpellation was requested in the parliament on this issue, for which we are still waiting for an answer from Minister Alfano. An appeal has also been made by Albanian televisions for this issue. A newspaper in Albania wrote that "the Tirana Prosecutor's Office has opened the file for a suspected murder", but the Albanian authorities have denied this. The prosecutor in Pesaro, who immediately opened a file on his disappearance, stated that they have no territorial jurisdiction and expect foreigners to open a criminal case. Meanwhile, Alba is no longer available, neither on the phone, nor in the e-mail address given to Ivan.

Now what happened?

These days it has been announced that prosecutors in Tirana have opened a criminal case for the murder of my brother, on February 17, 2015. Now I expect the responsible Italian institutional bodies to be activated in synergy with the Albanian bodies to conduct full investigations. Albania is a country with which we have bilateral cooperation agreements, even between the police forces, and for which we have provided significant economic assistance since 1997. Albania has also recently received the status of candidate for EU accession, and we expect that in this case a full investigation is carried out in accordance with European standards.

What is your opinion on this whole issue?

I'm really afraid that Ivan has been the victim of something serious, that has prevented him from returning home, so as not to hurt those he really loved. And in the name of this love I will never stop seeking the truth.

While 9 years have passed, there is no trace of Ivan, even his sister continues to believe that her brother will return home one day.
