The escape has ended for the 49-year-old Albanian Avni Meçja, who is suspected of being the author of the murder of his Romanian wife, 35-year-old Alexandra Elena Mocanu. He surrendered at the Bolzano Prosecutor's Office a few hours after the Italian authorities launched a search for him.
Initially, it was reported that he had fled to Albania, suspicions that arose after Meçja called his brother and told him that he would escape and that he would be wanted. This call of his came after a post he made on social networks where he apologized for killing his wife.
The body of the 35-year-old Romanian woman was found yesterday in her home at Viale Trieste 42. To determine the cause of death, the results of the autopsy will be awaited, which will be performed in the next few hours. According to what has been reconstructed so far, the murder dates back to a few hours before the discovery, probably on Saturday evening.
When the news spread, some neighbors wrote on social media that they often heard the two arguing, sometimes with her screaming. The couple lived on the fifth floor of a building not far from the center and apparently did not have much contact with the other apartments.
