A tragic event shook Maliq on Sunday afternoon, when a fire engulfed an apartment, apparently claiming the lives of 40-year-old Merjeme Hazisllari and her 14-year-old son, Luka, while her minor daughter was transported in serious condition to the QSUT.
The head of the Maliq fire service, Sadik Halili, pointed out the possible clues to the incident, stating that one version is a wood stove, while the other is some matches that were found on the floor.
" We received the notification at around 1:30 p.m. on October 19, from the police operations room. We immediately arrived at the scene within a minute since the distance is close. When we arrived at the scene, there was no fire inside the apartment and we found the two children, the boy and the girl, outside. The boy was unconscious while the girl was conscious, and at the kitchen door we found their mother asphyxiated, who had lost her life. We notified the ambulance, gave them first aid and sent them to the Korça hospital.
An investigation group has been set up for this event, of which I am also a part, to find the cause of the fire. At the moment we have two versions: inside the kitchen there was a wood-burning stove lit, while downstairs on the floor we found some lit matches. We cannot yet say the final clue ," said Halili.
