The Tirana Court today imposed the security measure "prison arrest" for the 5 people arrested for Kosovo-Albania arms trafficking.

For Eugenio Manushi (musician), who is being held for cocaine trafficking, the hearing is expected to be held on Sunday (December 15, 2024).

The arrested: Endri Papa, Aurel Manreka, Gersi Llozha, Kleo Muçalliu and Tonin Shkabmi, claimed during the hearing that they were not involved in arms trafficking, as according to them they had no knowledge of the activities of Valter Osmani, suspected of being the leader of the group arrested in Kosovo.

Through their lawyers, they claimed that the only charge that could stand in this case against them is that of manufacturing and selling weapons.

The criminal arms trafficking group was dismantled as part of a joint operation with checks in Tirana, Pristina and Ferizaj, and so far 24 people have been detained in total, in the territories of the two Albanian states. There are 10 from the Tirana police, of which 4 earlier, while 14 from the Kosovo Police.

Where did the weapons come from and how were they trafficked?

The country of origin is thought to be Turkey as a sporting weapon. Within the territory of Kosovo, the authorities there suspect that they may have been smuggled in and then, in a workshop that has not yet been found, but which is suspected to be in Ferizaj, they were modified into firearms. From the tests that have been done, the modification is of high quality and pistols or larger automatic weapons work best as firearms.
