New details have been revealed from the arrest of 39-year-old Klodian Kapedani, yesterday by order of SPAK, as he is accused of buying votes in Kavaja for the May 14 local elections.
Sources indicate that there have been no criminal charges against him, but it was discovered by some by chance during SPAK's wiretapping by some other persons, who are under investigation by SPAK for other criminal offenses, but who have not related to election crime.
It is known that the conversations are intercepted on standard telephone lines, but also through online communication applications a few days before the elections and during the election day on May 14. In these conversations, the amount of money that Klodian Kapedani would give to the citizens he contacted to vote was not mentioned, but he left the meeting place to give them the money.
"From the investigative actions, it has emerged that Klodian Kapedani promised and offered other people sums of money in order to participate in the voting, to ensure the participation of other people in the voting, as well as to determine the voting method ." said the press release.
Klodian Kapedan is charged with the criminal offense of "Active corruption in elections", as it is known that he bought votes for the candidate of the Berisha-Meta duo "Bashke Fitomje" coalition, Fisnik Qosja, who managed to be elected mayor.
The candidate Fisnik Qosja managed to win the elections in Kavaja on May 14, with a close result against the candidate of the Socialist Party, Redjan Krali.
But what is worth noting is that, as it seems from SPAK's interceptions, only small "crooks" are emerging who give some 30 or 50 thousand leks for buying votes, but not the big "fish" of business and politics Albanians. Maybe they come out too, but SPAK pretends not to see or hear them.
For, the highest politicians in Albania have dozens of reports that are being dragged by SPAK, one of them is the issue of lobbying for the former president Ilir Meta.
