Albania is expected to face a deterioration in weather conditions in two days, as a result of a new cyclonic center that is strengthening over central Italy and will gradually encompass the entire Balkans.
"A cyclonic center has been positioned for several days in southern Italy, mainly Sicily, but generally southern Italy. This cyclonic center is decreasing and moving towards the southeast, so it is coming towards the south of the Balkans. However, there is a shift and a deviation that is heading towards Greece. This storm of these days does not affect us, but another cyclonic storm is strengthening in the western Mediterranean. That cyclonic center will affect us as well, generally the Balkans, producing rainfall with at least average intensity for the entire Albanian territory," meteorologist Tanja Porja said on A2 CNN.
According to her, the country is currently in relatively stable conditions, with little and local rainfall, while temperatures have increased, reaching up to 15 degrees Celsius in the southwestern areas. But this situation will change over the weekend, mainly on Sunday and Monday, when the cyclonic system will bring moderate rainfall throughout the territory.
"Until Sunday, the rainfall is very low and local in nature, it is only in some areas, while this cyclonic center brings a strong system with clouds for the entire Balkans. In some areas of the Balkans it will bring rainfall, in some areas further inland snowfall. In the Albanian territory it will bring mainly rain, but also a little snow, since temperatures are not likely to fluctuate much in the minimum values. They will stay around zero and slightly negative, which makes the rainfall snow only in deep mountainous areas. Most of the precipitation will be rainy," she added.
