The Greek national television " ANT1 " has paid special attention to the murder of 49-year-old Albanian, Jani Aliaj , an event that occurred on Monday in the Koridhalos prison.

According to Greek journalist Panagiotis Stathis, he was temporarily transferred to a women's prison due to suspicions that he might be assassinated. According to him, he was returned to a men's prison without giving a clear reason.

"Given that there was information that a death contract existed against him, he had been transferred to the women's prison a short time ago, for protection reasons. Suddenly, a short time ago, it was decided that he would be transferred back to the main men's branch, that is, to the men's prison, without justification," the journalist said.

According to the same sources, two months earlier he had received the first murderous attack against him in prison and escaped. Even then, even though it was clear that he would be killed, no protective measures were taken. He was left there, where the field was undoubtedly open to his would-be assassins.

According to the "ANT1" journalist, "therefore, it is clear that there is both criminal and disciplinary responsibility. Are they being sought? If a murder were to occur at the Police Station, the entire department would be disbanded. Now? Are those responsible ultimately spectators of crimes and without any responsibility?"

The 49-year-old from Tepelena, who had been arrested in Greece since December 31, 2024. Aliaj was sentenced to life imprisonment in Albania for the murder of Elton Çiço in 2016 in Tirana, in a long-standing conflict between them that ended in revenge and fatality.

He was also accused of an incident that occurred in 2015 in Përmet, where an attempted theft of a large quantity of marijuana ended in injuries.
