A powerful explosion shook the city of Lezha on Sunday, around 11:00 PM, in the Besëlidhja neighborhood.

According to the Police, the incident occurred in a bakery, leaving major material damage, not only to the building where the explosion occurred, but also to two adjacent businesses, to three cars parked nearby, and to the windows of surrounding buildings.

According to initial investigations, the explosion came from a gas cylinder. The noise was so loud that some residents came out of their homes in shock, but fortunately no injuries were reported.

Police notification

"Around 23:00, on 05.04.2026, in the city of Lezha, inside a business (local bakery), owned by citizen KM, it is suspected that a gas cylinder exploded.

As a result, material damage was caused to the premises, the windows of 3 vehicles parked nearby were damaged, and external damage was found in two adjacent businesses.

The investigation group, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, is at the scene and is intensively continuing actions to fully clarify the circumstances and cause of the explosion, as well as to fully legalize the case," the police announced.
