An investigative file bearing No. 49, received from the Prosecutor's Office of Bergamo (Italy) to the address of the SPAK Special Prosecutor's Office, has resulted in a total failure of the representation of the charge in court, as the latter has dismissed the charge of "Structured Criminal Group", "Commitment of offenses criminal within the criminal group", acquitting the 11 persons accused by SPAK.

The case that was initially followed by the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, and then handled in court by the prosecutors, Vladimir Mara and Klodian Braho, ended with the declaration of innocence of 11 defendants, bringing smiles among family members, tears of joy inside the courtroom and the cage where the detainees were kept.

For almost three years, the 11 people have been isolated in prison, being harassed by SPAK, with investigations and confiscation of property.

While yesterday, on October 16, 2024, judges Rudina Palloj, Elsa Ulliri and Esmeralda Xhili rejected the claim of the Special Prosecutor's Office and released not only those arrested from prison but also their seized assets.

For 8 of the arrested persons such as Saimir Prenga, Gjergji Luli, Alfred Luli, Ilir Duro, Francesko Çeçi, Lorik Prengaj alias Fabio Prengaj and Gjergj Zefi, the court ordered the immediate release yesterday, dismissing the serious charges brought by SPAK.

Meanwhile, the prosecution, in its claim, had asked for 7 years of imprisonment for each of them, but due to the shortened trial, the claim was reduced to 4 years and 8 months of imprisonment.

Also, the 3 judges of the GJKKO have declared innocent for "Structured criminal group" and the other 4 defendants arrested and accused by SPAK such as Braniol Liço, Florind Vukaj, Lulëzim Selimi and Dhimitër Nina.

According to the decision announced yesterday, the latter pleaded guilty only to the charge of "Production and sale of narcotics" carried out in collaboration, being sentenced to 4 years and 8 months in prison each.

Meanwhile, for these persons, SPAK in its claim had requested a sentence of 12 and 11 years of imprisonment.

A few months ago, SPAK took 11 people as suspects in the drug trade in Italy and sent them to trial.

Braniol Liço alias Branjol Liço alias Branjol Ago, Florid Vukaj, Lulëzim Selimi, Dhimitër Nina, Saimir Prenga, Gjergji Luli, Alfred Luli, Ilir Duro, Francesko Çeçi, Lorik Prengaj alias Fabio Prengaj and Gjergj Zefi, were accused by SPAK of being participants in a group criminal who trafficked cocaine in Italy.

But for the episodes investigated by Italian authorities, these persons were convicted in Italy, while in Albania, SPAK had launched a second parallel file, issuing security measures "arrest in prison" against them and seizing dozens of assets in Albania.

Now all the charges against them were dropped, bringing the immediate release of 8 people, while 4 others were convicted for other charges such as "Production and sale of narcotics".

Meanwhile, it is expected that after the clarification of the decision, the SPAK special prosecution will act with an appeal.
