Nearly one meter of snowfall, additional forces are sent to help stranded

The Municipality of Tropoja announces that several citizens have been stranded by heavy snowfall in the Bjeshkë e Javorrit area, while a first group of vehicles and workers has been dispatched to them.

However, due to extremely difficult weather conditions and snow thickness of over 70 cm, the vehicles were unable to reach the point where the trapped people are located.

Under these circumstances, the Municipality has decided to send additional troops and equipment, in order to guarantee the safety of the lives of the trapped citizens, as well as the forces participating in the rescue operation.

Authorities do not rule out the possibility of helicopter intervention, if conditions on the ground require it.

It was previously reported that two elderly people were among the trapped people.
