The rector of the University of Medicine, Arben Gjata, has reacted to the public accusations made against him today, by lecturer Erges Eskiu, where according to the latter, Gjata has threatened the lecturers not to join the protest, but to continue the teaching process.
In a post on social networks, Gjata writes that Erges Eskiu, who accused him, is not a medical lecturer at all and claims that he neither knows nor has met him. He further adds that he had no influence at all on the protest and that he never looked at anyone's political beliefs, neither in recruitment nor in promotion, except on merit.
"Dear friends, today on a television someone I don't know and have never met stated that the Rector of the University of Medicine threatens the lecturers not to participate in the protests!
I want to point out that the declarant is not a lecturer at this University at all and to assure you that in the Rector's position, I have not influenced, but I have not even met any lecturers of FSHMT in recent weeks due to the very heavy workload!
As Rector of UMT, I was elected by the votes of the academic staff and students, therefore in no case have I seen anyone's political beliefs either in recruitment or in promotion except for merit!
Slanders from wherever they come will not prevent me from being in support and service of the students and the honorable staff of UMT to the end", writes Arben Gjata.
