Long lines of vehicles have formed at the Krystallopigi border crossing point, on the Greek side of the border with Kapshtica. The convoy of vehicles has crossed two kilometers, while travelers have been forced to wait over an hour to complete the crossing procedures.
According to travelers, the situation is caused by the Greek border police working with reduced counters, as well as the implementation of new control procedures. Taking fingerprints and taking a facial photo of each traveler has increased processing time at the border, creating significant delays.
The problem has appeared since the beginning of the implementation of this system and continues to cause difficulties in the movement of citizens between Albania and Greece.
The situation raises particular concerns on the eve of the summer tourist season, when the flow of movement is expected to increase significantly. Citizens are calling for an increase in the number of counters and measures to speed up procedures, in order to avoid long waits at the border.
