Two warheads, left at the bottom of the sea in the Gulf of Porto-Palermo, were brought to the surface this Friday during an operation carried out by divers from the Pashalimani Naval Base, in the presence of engineering experts, Albanian Navy soldiers, civil emergencies, and the Himara Municipality.
The shells were located near the tourist boat mooring piers in Porto-Palermo.
Although at considerable depths and underwater for more than 80 years, they were still considered potentially dangerous.
After being brought to the surface, the shells were taken by army experts to be disposed of safely.
