For three months, the Durrës Prosecutor's Office has been dragging out investigations into the suspected toxic waste of "Kurum" that has been stored in the hospital. The Basel Network has raised the alarm, calling this an unprecedented scandal that could seriously endanger the environment and public health.
Journalist Ola Xama said on the show "The Unexposed" on MCN TV that the executive director of the Basel Network, Jim Puckett, has offered his testimony, but the Durrës Prosecution has ignored this offer, not responding.
" After a three-month wait by the Directorate of Standards and Accreditation, a laboratory has finally been found that can examine the issue."
This entire reaction by the Durrës Prosecutor's Office came after a public denunciation by the Basel Network, which is also the main whistleblower of the case involving 102 containers of hazardous waste.
The Basel Network has noted that Executive Director Jim Puckett has offered to give his testimony via electronic channels, but the Prosecution has not responded.
Despite the administration of the evidence, it has not been specified whether it has the value of legal evidence. Furthermore, the Basel Network has also offered a notarized evidence, but has still not received a response.
"This disregard by the Prosecution and the Albanian government has prompted a strong reaction from the Basel Network, which is alarmed by the inaction on this very important issue, " said Xama.
