The State Police has reacted after the publication of a news story in several media outlets, which showed several people physically clashing at Rinas Airport.
Initially, it was reported that they were relatives of MP Xhemal Qefalia, but both the police and the latter have denied this.
Police say the fight started due to a conflict over queues between 18 members of a tribe who were on holiday in Antalya and several other people due to the queue at check-in.
Police say the conflict ended after the intervention and the passengers continued their journeys. Meanwhile, MP Qefalia has scolded Sali Berisha, who published the news on his Facebook page. "I understand Doctor that you are tired, but at least spare yourself these years so that you don't deal with slander anymore because you don't have time to correct it," he wrote.
State Police Announcement:
Regarding a video published about a conflict that occurred at Rinas airport during boarding, we clarify that:
On 06.09.2025, at around 02.30, during the boarding of passengers traveling by charter in Antalya, some of them argued with the check-in staff about queue issues, as they wanted to go through together and without queuing, due to the small children they had.
Airport staff requested police assistance and after the intervention of the Rinas Police Station services, the conflict was resolved.
The head of the family, citizen AM, and his sons, who were traveling as a family (about 18 citizens, family members including minor children) for a vacation in Antalya, Turkey, have apologized to the employees, who did not want to exercise their right to complain and continue the procedures in this case.
Seeing the positive reflection of the family members and taking into account the fact that they also had minor children with them, as well as the fact that the employees did not want to file a report, the Rinas Border Police employees advised them not to commit such actions and allowed them to continue their journey.
We clarify the fact that the claims that the persons involved in the conflict are family members of citizen Xh. Q. are not true.
