Pogradec Police have identified and are searching for the driver of the car that fatally hit a 55-year-old pedestrian on the Pogradec-Qafë Thanë road this evening.

The Blues of Pogradec indicate that the perpetrator is the 29-year-old with the initials DJ, who at around 18:45, in the village of Mëmëlisht, with the vehicle he was driving, hit citizen IM, 55 years old, a pedestrian, who died as a result of the injuries he sustained.

It is learned that the perpetrator abandoned the vehicle near the train station in the city of Pogradec.

The perpetrator removed the license plates and drove away, leaving the vehicle in this area.

Police notification

A 55-year-old man was hit by a vehicle and fled the scene of the accident. After intensive pursuit and checks by the Police, the driver of the vehicle, citizen DJ, 29 years old, was identified and declared wanted.

Specialists from the Road Traffic Sector, after intensive checks and monitoring of cameras in the area where the accident occurred, have made it possible to identify the vehicle and its driver, who left the scene of the accident.

At around 18:45, in the village of Mëmëlisht, this citizen, with the vehicle he was driving, hit citizen IM, 55 years old, a pedestrian, who died as a result of the injuries she sustained.

The work to capture the 29-year-old continues.

The procedural materials will be passed on to the Prosecutor's Office for further action.
