Following complaints from journalists, the GJKKO removes anti-covid restrictions

The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime has lifted restrictions on anti-covid measures. She has repealed the law on restrictions within court hearings.

This decision comes after the complaints of some journalists, where they claimed that the judges benefited from this law by holding closed sessions for those trials that interested you. Journalists will now be able to attend the sessions that will take place.

According to the decision, in court, the taking of measures will be evaluated case by case. The CCK took this decision because in the country the cases of coronavirus have been significantly reduced and as a result it was no longer necessary to maintain such restrictions.

"Based on the current situation of the spread of COVID-19, by the competent authority, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, pursuant to Article 102, point 4 of the Constitution of the Republic of Albania, Article 113 of Law no. 44/2015 'Code of Administrative Procedures of the Republic of Albania' as well as pursuant to the Decision of the Temporary Committee for the Infectious Disease of the new Corona virus no. 986/3 prot., Dated 26.04.2020, the order no. 273 dated 26.04.2022 "On the abrogation of order no. 351 dated 29.05.2020" On taking special measures and restrictions to prevent the spread of Covid-19 '. In these circumstances, all special measures and restrictions previously imposed to prevent the spread of COVID-19 have been repealed.

Given the current situation, where the prevalence of COVID-19 has been significantly reduced, it turns out that the causes which have led to previous restrictions have been minimized at the national level, thus dictating the removal of any previously taken restrictions. The removal of the above restrictions should also reflect on the measures that courts should take regarding the conduct of trials.

In the current conditions, it should be evaluated case by case by each court in taking specific organizational measures in the service of transparency to the public and the media, as well as preserving the health of court staff and each of its users ", it is said in the letter of GJKKO.
