Panic on board: Delta plane engine catches fire immediately after takeoff

A Delta Air Lines plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Brazil after an engine failure occurred shortly after takeoff, causing a fire.

Flight DL104, bound for Atlanta, experienced a mechanical problem with the left engine as it was taking off from Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo. Footage circulating on social media showed sparks flying from under the wing of the plane as it took off, causing panic and concern among passengers.

According to the airline, the incident was caused by a “mechanical problem.” The plane, an Airbus A330-300, managed to land safely, while ARFF (Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting) emergency teams immediately intervened on the runway.

After landing, all passengers were transported by bus to the airport terminal. “The safety of passengers and crew is our highest priority. We apologize to our customers for the delay in their travel,” the company said. Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries among passengers or crew members.
