Residents of the village of Peshtan i Vogël in Fier, which was engulfed in flames today, have described the situation as dramatic.

One of the residents told the media that he had evacuated his family away from the village, adding that his home and hundreds of olive trees were at risk.

He also emphasized that the fire service had not done the right thing to extinguish the flames in a timely manner.

"I am a resident of Peshtan i Vogël. I was evacuated from my apartment. I sent my parents away from here. The houses are at risk. There are many olive trees, about 700 roots that are at risk. We have never been compensated. No fire extinguishers, nothing. Everything is over here, the state is over. There is no one responsible. Let those who are left leave and let the government enjoy it," said a resident of the area.

Further, another resident of the area emphasized that about 250 olive trees had been burned and that the state had never compensated them, while adding that they had no other choice but to leave Albania.

"The same thing happened to us the first time our olives were burned there. I have over 250 olive trees, all in production. Plus, let alone the olives, but the houses are also at risk. I have houses there. The fire could have been prevented from the beginning. There is no state here, nothing works. Where is your helicopter now? Where is your fire engine? It's a helicopter, what will it do before? So let's load up our belongings and leave Albania. The olives are in production, we had our hopes there. The fire turned around here, we're done," said another resident of the area.
