Glad I found Albania! The new ambassador of the European Union Delegation to Albania, Sofia Moreira de Sousa, starts her post on social networks in Albanian.

De Sousa has reacted for the first time after officially taking office in Tirana, where he replaces Silvio Gonzato in this post.

Through a video message published on social networks, the diplomat introduced herself to the Albanian public at the start of her four-year mandate.

In her first message, Moreira de Sousa described it as an honor to serve in Albania at such a defining moment for the accession process. She guaranteed that, together with the EU Delegation team, she will do her utmost to facilitate every step of the country towards the European family, underlining the importance of cooperation with member states.

"It is an honor to be here, at such an important moment in Albania's journey towards the European Union. Together with my team at the EU Delegation, I am here to support every step of Albanians towards integration," she said.

The new EU chief diplomat also highlighted the renowned hospitality of the Albanian people, while expressing her desire to travel throughout the country during her diplomatic mission.

"I have heard a lot about the hospitality of the Albanian people and I can't wait to travel around the country, to experience and witness it for myself," declared Sofia Moreira de Sousa, closing her first message with the Albanian word: "Goodbye!".
