The appeal of the Special Court Against Crime and Corruption finally sentenced Blendi Teta to 25 years in prison, accused of being involved in the murder of former police officer Santiago Malko.

The event took place in August 2019. Malko was executed inside his vehicle on "Xhanfize Keko" street in the capital.

The murder plan

The whole scene to execute Malko according to the investigation is woven into the basement of a bar in the Fresco area. According to the investigative file, Blendi Teta and seven people who had dinner together in secret premises in the bar and for a moment, one of the persons told them: "Get up guys because we have work".

They all got out and got into two vehicles; the first type Wolksvagen GOLF 5, gray color and the second, type Skoda Roomster, which was found hidden in a parking lot near the directorate of the former forest on 'Dalip Topi' street.

In the first place of the vehicle type Skoda, sat Blendi Teta. The vehicle moved from Fresku of IKV, to the Traffic Commissariat, went to the street "Myslym Keta" and then took the direction of Commissariat no.4.

The Wolksvagen Golf also arrived there.

In a few minutes, the vehicles walked in the direction of the Allias intersection, then continued their movement on the road adjacent to the United School wall in the direction of the Chimney. There they turned right on the road Kongresi i Manastirit in the direction of SHISH.

Vehicle movements are focused for the most part by the security cameras of various businesses. According to the investigation, when "Skoda" was at the hospital no. 5, one of the people in the car, asked the driver to change the direction of movement, saying: "come back, he parked the bins".

On Xhanfize Keko Street, they found a BMW X5 vehicle. Referring to the testimony given before the officers, Blendi Teta left at this moment, because according to him he understood that something bad would happen.

He claims that he went on foot to the children's hospital and after buying some water, took a taxi and left for 'Don Bosko' to his cohabitant.

15 minutes later, he saw in the news that an assassination attempt had been made on a BMW X5 car and one person had been left dead.

At this moment he showed fear, as there were suspicions that the crime was committed by the persons who was escorted that evening.

After that, he kept in touch only with his cohabitant, in whose house the police also received him. Blendi Teta has denied being aware of the plan to assassinate Santiago Malko, but admits that he has social ties with the people who had dinner that night.

All the persons who happened to be at that dinner, including well-known names from the underworld, have been declared wanted, but so far the police operations to capture them have not yielded results.

Motives for the murder

From the conclusion of the investigation it has emerged that the cause of the murder of the former police officer was rivalry in the illegal business of sports lotteries. According to SPAK, the perpetrators of the murder are members of the Duka brothers criminal group, along with the Duka brothers.
