The four officials and former officials of the Municipality of Fier, among them the former deputy mayor Adela Hysenaj, will stay in the same precautionary measures that the Court of Fier had given, confirming them today.

The officials are accused of not collecting over 400 thousand euros from the taxes of the public parking that the municipality administers, abusing their duty in several cases and favoring certain people.

The Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Fier, under the direction of Judge Aurora Tusha, has accepted the request of the Prosecutor's Office for the interrogation of four persons under investigation for the criminal offenses of abuse of office and exercise of illegal influence on public officials.

The Fier Prosecutor's Office requested the interrogation of four people under investigation, including former senior officials of the Fier Municipality and the tax administration. According to the court's decision, Adela Hysenaj (former deputy mayor of Fier and former director of Taxes and Urban Planning) and Vasil Ceku (director of the Fier Regional Tax Directorate) will continue to be kept under "house arrest".

Meanwhile, for Anisa Çjapi (current director of Local Taxes and Tariffs) and Martin Dodi (general secretary of the Fier Municipality), the security measure remains "suspension from duty". However, the court has decided to revoke the ban to leave the place for Dodi, while for Cek the suspension from office has been lifted, but he remains under the measure of "house arrest".

We remind you that the "Parking" operation was finalized after a several months of investigation by the Section for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crimes in DVP Fier, under the direction of the Fier Prosecutor's Office. The investigation revealed a damage of about 40 million Lek to the local budget as a result of not providing underground parking with a fiscal cash register and favoring private entities through unfair tax reduction.
