The next court hearing in the case of former president Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi is taking place today at the Special Court against Crime and Corruption (SCCC).
During today's session, Meta submitted another written request to the court to remain outside the glass cage during the trial.
However, the GJKKO immediately rejected this request, reasoning that this request had already been reviewed and a final decision had already been made by the court previously.
In the previous session, Kryemadhi requested the invalidation of the investigative acts and the seizure of her mobile phone. She claims that permission should have been obtained from the Assembly in advance for this investigative action, due to her status as a member of parliament at the time the seizure was carried out. The prosecution (SPAK) is expected to express its official position today regarding these defense requests.
On the other hand, Ilir Meta has also requested the invalidation of the investigative acts. Among them, his defense has contested the communications received from the cellphone of businessman Kastriot Ismailaj, which also includes the episode of the text message "tomorrow I definitely need 200 thousand". According to Meta, these communications cannot be used as evidence, since it has never been proven that the former president was the sender of that message.
