Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi in court session

The next hearing for the trial of Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi is being held today, where SPAK is expected to express its views on their submissions.

Meta and Kryemadhi have claimed that the evidence was obtained illegally, undermining its validity.

In the last session, Meta focused on the messages with Kastriot Ismailaj, including the one 'I need 200 thousand', which has always been referred to as a request for 200 thousand euros from the former President to the businessman connected to the CEZ-DIA affair. Meta says that prosecutors have never proven that the message was sent by him, or whether there was any subsequent action on his part or Kastriot Ismailaj.

Kryemadhi said that SPAK seized her cell phone without obtaining permission from the Assembly because she was a member of parliament and could not be controlled. She requested that SPAK make available to her all the minutes kept for the examination of the cell phone. 

The former couple are being tried in a trial, accused of corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets.
