Under strict measures and a wide security perimeter, specialized experts have arrived in Porto Romano of Durrës to take samples of suspected toxic waste, deposited for a year in this industrial area of Durrës.
The process is being carried out with utmost care, as it is suspected that due to the long stay, the remains may have hardened, making taking samples more complicated.
The samples taken will be sent for detailed analysis to a specialized laboratory in Italy, in order to determine the composition and possible level of toxicity.
These wastes, amounting to around 2100 tons, are in the 102 containers seized by order of the Prosecutor's Office from the "KURUM" company, after their return to the Port of Durrës.
The containers are stored at the Porto Romano depot, near the "EcoPark".
