The powers of the Municipal Police will be expanded. The Council of Ministers approved this Thursday the draft law that gives these structures more power.

Based on these changes, the municipal police can impose fines in the territory of the municipality for any violation of the Highway Code, not only for cases related to parking, or violation of the restriction schedules in cases of heavy vehicles.

The Municipal Police will also have the authority to verify the implementation of legality and periodic patrolling in cooperation with the State Police along the public coastline and in the recreational areas of inland waters in the depth of the territory, for safety at sea, beaches and inland waters in the depth of the territory of the municipality's jurisdiction;

In the sports activities, the Municipal Police will participate as security personnel, and they are given the right to fine violators of the anti-smoking law.
