Greek police appear to be on the way to identifying the decomposed corpse, discovered on September 19 in a field in the village of Mouriki in Thebes, following excavations by an excavator working to lay an underground pipeline.

Sources indicate that it is suspected that the victim is citizen Ilir Rrasa, 45 years old, as an identity card with his name was found on his body, Vox News.al writes.

It is learned that he was arrested in March 2017 together with Elirjan Rrasa and Agim Hajdari in Tirana, after they were accused of three cases of robbery of premises. Also, Ilir Rrasa was convicted even before he was arrested in 2017.

Sources inform that the family members of Ilir Rrasa from Elbasan had the last contact with him on September 4, while 15 days later he was found half buried in Greece, writes VoxNews.al.

The dead body, according to police sources, was in a state of decomposition. Currently, the victim's body is in the Athens morgue to complete legal expertise to verify if there was a violent death.
