Netanyahu: We have eliminated Hamas leader in Gaza, Mohammed Sinwar

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday that the head of Hamas in Gaza, Mohammad Sinwar, one of his most wanted and the younger brother of the group's late leader, Yahya Sinwar, had been eliminated.

Mohammad Sinwar rose through the ranks of the Palestinian militant group last year after Israel killed his brother, Yahya, in fighting during the ongoing war in Gaza.

Yahya Sinwar organized the October 2023 attack on Israel that sparked the war and was later named the group's overall leader after Israel assassinated his predecessor Ismail Haniyeh in Iran.
