Changes to US visa renewal procedures

The United States Embassy in Tirana has issued an announcement regarding visa renewal.

Through a post on its social media, the embassy announces that as of September 2, 2025, only B1/B2 visas that are still valid or that have expired less than 12 months ago will be able to be renewed by mail.

Meanwhile, for all other types of visas, an interview will be required.

"Starting September 2, 2025, only B1/B2 visas that are still valid OR have less than 12 months left to expire may be renewed by mail. For all other visa types, except for certain government travel cases, an interview will be required."

"We encourage visa applicants to check the embassy website al.usembassy.gov and travel.state.gov for more detailed information on visa application requirements and procedures, as well as to be informed about the status of the embassy's operations and services ," the embassy writes.
