Qemal Disha, a prominent figure in the insurance industry, passes away
Kemal Disha

Qemal Disha, founder, leader and one of the most emblematic figures of the insurance industry in Albania, passed away today.

Qemal Disha was not just a leader. He was a visionary architect, a strategic mind, and a man who saw insurance not as a product, but as a contract of trust with society. In a time of profound economic and institutional transition, he had the courage to build a business model based on professionalism, fairness, and long-term responsibility.

Born in 1951 in Zerqan, Dibra, Qemal Disha built a rare professional profile, combining academic training in economics with extensive experience in public administration and the financial sector. His contribution as minister in the Ministry of Finance, in the establishment and management of INSIG and then in the creation and consolidation of SIGMA, marks key stages in the modern history of insurance in the country.

In the years when the insurance market was still in its infancy, Qemal Disha chose the most difficult path: to build standards where they were lacking, to create trust where there was uncertainty, and to lead by example, not rhetoric. Under his leadership, SIGMA positioned itself as a company that respects the client, pays its obligations, and builds long-term relationships – values that remain the foundation of our identity even today.

However, Qemal Disha's legacy goes beyond the institutions he led. He will be remembered as a mentor who invested in people, who created space for new generations of professionals, and who built a work culture based on ethics, respect, and meritocracy. To his competitors, he was a stabilizing actor in an emerging market. To his associates, a leader who led by example. To his family, a dedicated and supportive man.

The funeral ceremony will take place at the ALBA 2000 Funeral Home, while the funeral will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM, in Tufina.
