Alarm in Durrës/ Ministry orders immediate evacuation for residents of
Sukth

Authorities have announced an immediate evacuation for residents of the Municipality of Durrës, specifically in the Sukth and Katund i Ri Administrative Units, due to the situation aggravated by flooding and the direct danger to the life and health of citizens.

The decision was taken in implementation of Law No. 45/2019 "On Civil Protection", the National Civil Emergency Plan and local emergency plans, while the evacuation will be carried out in coordination with the National Civil Protection Agency, the District Prefect and local civil emergency structures.

According to the legislation in force, the Mayor is the authority responsible for ordering evacuation in the administrative territory. The authorities call for any communication and request for assistance to be directed to public structures on the ground.

In the evacuation process, priority will be given to:

children,
the elderly,
people with disabilities,
families located in isolated areas.
Transportation of residents will be provided by municipal vehicles, the Fire and Rescue Service (FRS) and the Armed Forces.

As for the accommodation of the evacuees, it will be managed by the Municipality, in cooperation with the State Police, healthcare units and social service structures. Citizens will be registered upon arrival, and food, clothing and medical assistance will be provided, as needed.
