A collaboration between Colombian, American and Paraguayan authorities has busted a gang of drug traffickers and money launderers.

 

As a result, 17 people of different nationalities were handcuffed. It is about 12 Colombians, two Venezuelans, one Italian, one Dominican, one Dutch and one Albanian. They have been caught in Bogota, Cundinamarca, Valle del Cauca, Risaralda, Antioquia, Bolívar, Atlántico and Nariño.

The arrested Albanian is the citizen Kliton Dega, (the person in the photo) declared wanted by the Italian authorities. 

One of those arrested is Diego Mauricio Blanco, the suspected pilot of one of the largest cocaine trafficking criminal organizations in Brazil, known as the Rocha clan, which has links to the structure of the Capital First Command (PCC) of Brazil. The main leader of this organization was Luis Carlos Rocha, who was captured in 2017, already replaced by Joao Suarez Rocha, the current leader.

Diego Mauricio Blanco is suspected of taking part in a network that carried out 23 flights with 400 kilograms of cocaine each for the Rocha clan.

According to Colombian authorities, the group had the capacity to produce and ship about five tons of cocaine a month to the United States, Africa and Europe from Bolivia, Peru and Colombia.

These individuals were suspected of coordinating the delivery of cocaine to several states through cargo ships, hidden in cargoes of food, pharmaceutical equipment, construction materials and others. They were also being investigated for extortion and money laundering. According to the investigation, this criminal structure was laundering the assets of drug trafficking in Paraguay, where there were several properties

The indication for their investigation was taken after the murder of Marcelo Pecci, the Paraguayan prosecutor who had investigated many crimes, including the Rocha clan.
