New prices from the Transparency Board: Here's how much it will sell for

The Transparency Board has set today, May 28, 2026, the new fuel prices in the domestic market.

According to the decision, the retail price of diesel will be no more than 187 lek per liter, while the wholesale price will be no more than 175 lek per liter.


A day ago, the Board decided to sell oil at 190 lek, while today the price is reduced by 3 lek.

Also, the retail price of gasoline will be no more than 174 lek per liter, while wholesale will be no more than 162 lek per liter.

The new prices come into effect today at 2:00 PM and will be in effect until the next Board meeting, where they will be reviewed according to market movements.

Transparency Board Announcement:

The Transparency Board on May 28, 2026, at its next meeting, decided:

The retail price of the SSH EN 590 standard diesel by-product shall not exceed 187 lek/liter, while the wholesale price shall not exceed 175 lek/liter.
The retail price of the SSH EN standard gasoline by-product shall not exceed 174 lek/liter, while the wholesale price shall not exceed 162 lek/liter.

The prices set by the Board will come into effect today, the 28th, at 2:00 p.m. and will be valid until the next board meeting where the changes in sales prices will be reflected.

We draw the attention of every operator of wholesale and retail sales of petroleum by-products to the obligation to implement this decision.

In case of violations found by various operators, the suspension of activity will be decided.

The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, are committed to protecting the interests of Albanian consumers and preserving the principles of fair competition in the market.

EXPLANATION: Referring to Normative Act No. 1, Date 3.4.2026 “On an addition to Law No. 61/2012, “On excise duties in the Republic of Albania,” as amended, which provides that if the retail price for diesel is higher than 220 lek/liter, or for gasoline is higher than 200 lek/liter, the 80% excise duty level shall be applied. Based on the application of the methodology for calculating the retail price ceiling, the prices are below the limit of Normative Act No. 1, date 3.4.2026, and consequently the excise duty level shall be applied in full, 100%.
