In an interview on Syri TV, Mirel Mërtiri answered why not the incinerator of Elbasan and Fier. According to him, the reason why these two incinerators do not work is that they were prevented by the Minister of Energy, Belinda Balluku.

"You worry about my answer and you don't worry that 130 million euros were taken. Let me say it. The waste processing and treatment plant in Tirana, as in Elbasan and Fier, are complex structures, which include the water treatment plant, the waste disposal plant, the waste treatment plant with waste-energy. These are contractual structures", said Mertiri among others.
