Businessman Mirel Mërtiri explained this evening how the idea for waste treatment came to him, initially in Elbasan, after the big problems with waste that the municipality in question and the whole country had to deal with.

He said that seeing this dire situation, he offered to the Albanian government through an unsolicited offer by applying the laws of the country.

"The waste in Elbasan only did not enter the houses, there were many problems, it was a gangrene for that city. Seeing what was happening, my family and I made an unsolicited offer. We turned to the government of the ministries with a solution as the law allows and requires. All the papers are there. The emergency for the treatment of waste was announced by the government some time ago. We did not instigate anything, we simply approached the institutions to solve the problem. It was a business choice. Everyone makes their own choices when doing business. The Albtek company has brought all the necessary documentation to the government. The solution through incineration in Elbasan was the best possible solution. No business makes policies and procedures, we follow the procedures", said Mërtiri.

He claimed that he had social ties with Klodian Zoto, whose company has performed part of the incinerator works in the form of subcontracting.

“Klodian Zoto has his own company and is a close friend of mine. His company has subcontracted some of the works. I am a director at the company Integrated Technology Services. Since 2017, I have been a representative of the Geogenix company. I am not a shareholder of Integrated Technology Services", Mërtiri added.
