Mirel Mërtiri has responded for the first time publicly to the accusations about the incinerators. In a television interview, Mërtiri showed the procedure for the construction of the Elbasan incinerator.

The witness said that the SPAK file against him is full of untruths. He accused the SPAK prosecutor, Klodian Braho, of fabricating everything in the file.

"The file is a trick. Everything in the file was fabricated by the SPAK prosecutor. The dossier is fictitious and incorrect from start to finish. The evidence was done the way the prosecutor wanted, in order to hit me and my family, to hit me, for someone else's reason, maybe even one that is not in the file", said Mërtiri.

Answering the questions of journalist Çim Peka, Mërtiri said that the incinerator of Elbasan was temporarily owned for a period of 7 years by his family's company.

Asked how he was able to win the 22 million euro concession without having experience in the construction of plants, Mërtiri said that the subcontractors who carry out the works are Italian firms with several years of experience in the field.

In "Syri Tv", Mërtiri said that like any other citizen, he knows politicians who do not divide him into left or right, when he was asked about his connections with politics. He added that he has no acquaintance with Úngjëll Agaçi, the secretary of the prime minister, and has never met.

Çim Peka: Are you the "de facto" boss of the incinerators?

Mirel Mërtiri: After many, many times when my family and I hear all kinds of accusations, distortions of facts. How is it possible that "de-facto owner" does not exist in the Albanian dictionary. If the criminal or civil code states or clarifies what de-facto owner means, I will give you the answer.

I am accused of acts never committed by us. If we will take all the plants in turn and I will give you an answer. In the Elbasan plant, my family is the temporary owner of the Elbasan plant. The company "Alb Tec" is a company that should have existed in the administration of my family for only 7 years. At the end of the 7th year, the company and the contract were transferred to the Ministry of Energy and the Municipality of Elbasan.

Çim Peka: Your company without any experience in this field won 22 million euros to build the incinerator?

Mirel Mërtiri: It is not a tender, it is not owned by a company, companies that participated in the construction of this plant have several years of experience in the Italian state.

Belind Kelliçi: You were invited to the commission for incinerators but you did not come

Mirel Mërtiri: Can you tell me where you started this invitation? At which address? We cannot lie to public opinion, I have not received any invitation.

My family built and was the owner for a while of the plant in Elbasan.

Belind Këlliçi: How can you get this big contract from the Albanian government with a procedure that did not exist, you personally have relations with Albanian politicians?

Mirel Mërtiri: To live in Albania you must have relations with Albanian politicians. We are people, we are human beings and in our social environments we cannot separate left or right.

Belind Kelliçi: Have you had contact or personal acquaintance with Mr. Engjëll Agaçi?

Mirel Mërtiri: You are starting the conversation with proper names, which I do not have to do today. Mr. Agaçi, I am giving you an answer, I neither know him nor have I met him.
