The Minister of Health, Ogerta Manastiliu, declared tonight in the Assembly that the government will guarantee the new anticovid vaccines, which include the new subvariants.
"Through the amendment of the agreement with the Pfizer company, not having any financial effect, but based on the doses that we have already financed with this year's budget, we can change the schedule or calendar of the arrival of vaccine doses adapted according to the new variants, BA1, BA4/5, so that we can have these adapted vaccines in Albania within the month of November", said Manastirliu.
Speaking about the rates of vaccination compared to the countries of the region, Manastirliu said: "Albania has a vaccination coverage with the same levels as Serbia and higher than North Macedonia, Bosnia Herzegovina and Montenegro".
Manastirliu said that free vaccination against flu is also guaranteed for vulnerable groups:
"We are carrying out a combined vaccination in all health centers. Vaccinations are free not only against Covid, but also against the seasonal flu, and so far more than 150,000 flu vaccinations have been carried out."
