Mother reports daughter's disappearance in Korça, 17-year-old

A 17-year-old belonging to the Roma community in Korça has been arrested by police, suspected of having had sexual relations with a 13-year-old girl.

It was the girl's 40-year-old mother who sought the help of the Korça Police, reporting her daughter's disappearance from the apartment.

After the report, the blue uniforms have launched an investigation and today they have detained the 17-year-old, on the charge of "Sexual relations with minors".

Sources close to judicial police officers indicate that both the girl and the boy have admitted that they left together and also had sexual intercourse, with the consent of both parties.

Due to the girl's age, the police did not take their statements into consideration, but instead detained the 17-year-old with the initials FT on their own initiative, while the Korça Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the incident.

This is the second case with the same charge, where the Korça Prosecutor's Office has criminally prosecuted young people from the Roma community.

Previously, Dritson Kurti has been behind bars for more than nine months and is currently under "compulsory appearance" order.

Police Notification

"The services of the Korça Police Commissariat on their own initiative detained a 17-year-old for the criminal offense of 'Sexual or homosexual relations with a minor', as it is suspected that he had sexual relations with a 13-year-old girl," the official announcement states.
