Luljeta Lleshanaku was declared "Poet Laureate" for the two-year period 2023-2025. The poet was awarded the title "Poet Laureate" with the motivation "For her modern verse, away from the automated metaphor, building the meaning of the poetic phrase with rhythm and comparison, as well as for the creation of a new generation of poets".

The initiative initiated by the Ministry of Culture and the National Book and Reading Center for this year had 9 other authors of Albanian poetry in the competition (Flutura Açka, Sadik Bejko, Ervin Hatibi, Rita Petro, Preç Zogaj, Natasha Lako, Ilirian Zhupa , Entela Tabaku and Arian Leka).

"Poets have the mission of a prophet, to convey literature and poetry to other generations. When it comes to a woman, the responsibility is twofold", said the Minister of Culture, Elva Margariti, underlining that poetry is a tool not only for communication, but also for bringing people together.

In her speech, the poet Lleshanaku focused on the difficulty, for an Albanian author, to become popular with local readers, from publication, to promotion in the media, to inclusion in school textbooks, expressing her gratitude to her readers. .

"One of the most difficult parts for me was facing the Albanian reader. After the publication in your country, a period of anxiety begins, because it is very difficult to impress the Albanian reader, since he shares the same history, everyday life, and in such circumstances it is not easy to surprise him. Even more so at a time when the reader is beaten with the best authors of world literature. In such conditions, if he chooses you, it is really to be appreciated", said the poet Luljeta Lleshanaku during the ceremony for receiving the title that was handed to her by the Minister of Culture, Elva Margariti.

The jury headed by the poet from Kosovo Sibel Halimi had as other members the writer Ylljet Aliçka, the journalist Arta Marku and the publisher Arlinda Dudaj and the literature teacher, Dhurata Shehri.

After holding the crown as "Poet Laureate" by the author Rudolf Marku during the years 2020-2022, Lleshanaku is the second Poet Laureate for Albania.

"Our task as an institution is to build structures that serve culture, beauty, art, and I wish that this initiative will be enriched over the years and bring as much progress as possible", said the director of the NKLL, Alda Bardhyli.

During this 2-year period, the holder of the title "Poet Laureate" has the responsibility of building a personal strategy for promoting the values of poetry as well as drafting an anthology of poems, choosing the topic himself.

Poet Luljeta Lleshanaku ranks among the best names of contemporary poetry in the world.

Some of her poetic volumes are "Child of nature", "Negative space", "Almost yesterday", "Homo antarcticus", etc.
