The American Lottery could be made available for a fee if a draft law currently being considered is approved in the United States.

“In addition to any other fee authorized by law, the Secretary of Homeland Security shall impose a fee on each alien who registers for the diversity immigrant visa program, as described in section 203(c) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1153(c)), in the amount specified in that subsection at the time of registration,” the bill states.

The fee will be no less than $250 for the American Lottery, if approved, and it is also expected to increase the visa application fee at the American Embassy, which will be $400 per person.

“The amount specified in this subsection for fiscal year 2025 shall be such amount as the Secretary may prescribe by regulation, but in any event not less than $400,” the draft states.
