BREAKING NEWS/ Brother of DP MP arrested, "La Repubblica": "Ghost
Elda Hoti/ Markelian Hoti

Markelian Hoti , 27, has been arrested in Rome pursuant to a European arrest warrant issued by Belgian judicial authorities for international drug trafficking.

Hoti was considered by law enforcement agencies to be one of the organizers of a criminal network involved in cocaine trafficking between Belgium, Dubai and Italy.

He is suspected of having played a key role in coordinating the movement of drug shipments, including a quantity of 50 kilograms of cocaine.

Investigations and arrest warrants

The Belgian prosecution had documented the involvement of the 27-year-old Albanian in the criminal organization, where he acted in the capacity of organizer.

According to authorities, he often traveled in powerful vehicles from Northern Europe to Dubai to manage the illegal activity.

The turning point in the investigation came after the seizure of 50 kilograms of cocaine hidden in containers in the port of Antwerp.

After this operation, Hoti lost track of him, and in January he was declared internationally wanted for participation in a criminal organization for the purpose of drug trafficking, a criminal offense that provides for up to 15 years in prison.

He was hiding in a B&B on the outskirts of Rome.

Markelian Hoti was located by the Italian police mobile team while staying with his partner in a B&B on the eastern outskirts of Rome.

According to Italian media, he was not registered in the "Alloggiati Web" system, making him practically invisible to the authorities.

After confirming his identity, the 27-year-old was taken into custody, where he will remain pending extradition procedures to Belgium. / Taken from La Repulica
