The Constitutional Court, after deciding to reopen the process for Arben Frroku, convicted of the murder of Dritan Lamaj, and after reviewing the case in question, upheld the decision for life imprisonment.
Frroku was convicted of the murder of former Chief Commissioner Dritan Lamaj. Following a Strasbourg ruling, the Constitutional Court decided to reopen the case and then overturn the decision made by this court in 2018.
Meanwhile, on February 17 of this year, the Constitutional Court decided to leave the previous decision in force, rejecting Frroku's request to continue the sentence with life imprisonment.
Frroku is currently in prison in the Netherlands, serving his sentence there. Frroku has claimed to Dutch authorities that his life would be in danger if he were transferred to serve his sentence in an Albanian prison.
