An unusual incident has been recorded at the port of Durres and the border police have initiated criminal proceedings against the captain of a merchant ship, suspected of violating maritime and border regulations.

Specialists from the Durrës DVKM referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office for the criminal offense of " Illegal crossing of the state border " against Turkish citizen AK, 39 years old, serving as a ship captain.

According to preliminary data, he is suspected of having left the port of Durres without notifying the port authorities and without completing the mandatory legal procedures for departure.

Tch writes that the Durrës Sea Port Captaincy informs that the ship in question is the " Stefany ", with a Panamanian flag , manufactured in 1995, which turns out to have had discrepancies in the amount of cargo.

Specifically, the ship unloaded 3,300 tons of superphosphate in Porto Romano, but during verifications, a shortage of about 70 tons was found.

The ship did not respect the procedure and left Albanian waters without completing routine exit procedures, raising suspicions of other possible violations.

Investigations are ongoing to fully clarify the circumstances of this case.
