Two Albanians have been arrested in Malta after authorities suspect they may have been paid to execute a person identified as Louis Spiteri, 62.
Local media write that a 37-year-old Maltese man, who is suspected to have been the orderer, also ended up in handcuffs.
Matthew Joseph Schembri has been accused of organizing an attack by two assassins on his ex-wife's 62-year-old father as he ran out in the morning along the Sliema promenade.
According to a TVM report, Schembri is accused of ordering two Albanians, Giovanni Ndoci and Agostin Marku, to attack Louis Spiter.
Spiteri shared details of the event in a post on social media, where he says one of the men punched him in the face and threw him to the ground. Thankfully, passersby heard Spiter's cries for help and intervened, catching one of the aggressors, Ndocin, who was found with a knife.
The 62-year-old thankfully escaped the attack.
